Our homestay is hidden gem close to Sampekatte and it feels like home. Managed by an aged couple that greets you with a big smile on their face and you feel at home. And the food? Flavourful, home-made, authentic local foods that will get your adventure started right!
A fresh-up and good breakfast later, it is time to pack your belongings, tie your shoe laces, and be off the trail. It starts off as a soft stroll through a zigzagging route through the dense Western Ghats and then bursts into a secret little heaven - a large green pasture that is the best-kept secret. While walking past various paddy fields and rustic trails, you will eventually come across a small hut. This is a great spot to sit down and catch your breath, but don’t get too comfortable - the real challenge starts here.
The biggest highlight of the trek is Hidlumane Falls, a stunning row of seven waterfalls. While each level is an adventure with slippery rocks, flowing water, and the sound of nature surrounding you, the top rewards you with a breathtaking view of the main waterfall (almost 60 feet in height!). The cool water feels like nature’s reward, washing away all your tiredness. Remember to refill your bottles here before the trail gets windier.
Here on, everything gets steeper (literally). The climb ahead involves hopping over tangled tree roots and mossy rocks until you reach the first major peak. This spot gives you a beautiful place to rest and fuel up with some very needed food.
Following this, the trail splits and weaves back together before joining onto the jeep route leading to Kodachadri temple. Make a mental note of this point - it is your ride back down. But the final stretch is still left - the trail to the peak.
The path to Kodachadri peak will take you along a rocky ridge, with cliffs and sweeping views on both sides. At the top, you’ll find Sarvajna Peetha - a simple stone shrine where Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have once meditated. The sunset is your reward for enduring nature's test - take a breather while watching the sun dip into the Arabian Sea. The sky paints you a picture with hues you never knew existed – truly a reward no office desk could live up to.

Here is a detailed description for Day 2:
We'll start our Sunday morning with an early breakfast, getting energized for a day of coastal exploration. After freshening up, our first stop is Delta Point (also known as Kodi Bengre). This is a beautiful, serene estuary where the Suvarna River meets the Arabian Sea.
Here, you'll have the option to go kayaking (self-sponsored), paddling through the calm backwaters. It's a peaceful experience, offering a unique chance to glide through quiet mangrove-lined waters and see the picturesque sandbar that separates the river from the sea.
After our morning adventure, we'll break for a self-sponsored lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor some fresh coastal cuisine.
Following lunch, we head to the vibrant and popular Malpe Beach. This bustling beach is known for its long stretch of golden sand, clear blue waters, and lively atmosphere. You can take a walk along the shore, dip your feet in the waves, or simply relax and enjoy the ocean breeze.
As the afternoon light begins to soften, we'll make our way to our final stop, the stunning Kapu Beach (also spelled Kaup). This beach is famous for its iconic 100-foot-tall lighthouse standing on a massive rock. We'll arrive just in time to witness a spectacular sunset. You can climb the lighthouse (if operational and time permits) for a breathtaking panoramic view or find a spot on the rocks to watch the sun paint the sky as it dips below the Arabian Sea.
After the sun sets, we'll begin our return journey, departing from Kapu and heading back to Bengaluru. We aim to be back by approximately 10:30 PM, bringing an end to our refreshing coastal weekend.
