About The Trip

Shivanasamudra is one of Karnataka’s most popular weekend getaways, known for the dramatic waterfalls of the River Kaveri, scenic countryside, ancient temples, and peaceful landscapes. Located within an easy weekend journey from Bengaluru, the region is a great choice for travellers looking to combine nature, adventure, and culture in a short escape.

The Shivanasamudra Weekend Escape from Bangalore takes you beyond the usual waterfall visit and lets you experience different sides of the region. From the spectacular Barachukki Falls and the landscapes surrounding the Kaveri to lesser-explored places like Ramateertha Temple and the serene Dzogchen Monastery, there is much more to Shivanasamudra than a typical day trip.

Designed as a relaxed 2-day weekend getaway from Bangalore, this experience brings together hiking, camping, waterfalls, heritage, and scenic countryside. Whether you’re looking for a quick outdoor break, exploring Shivanasamudra for the first time, or simply want a refreshing weekend away from Bengaluru, this trip offers a little bit of everything without travelling too far from the city.

Detail Itinerary

Details

Meet your fellow travellers in Bengaluru and set off towards Shivanasamudra for a weekend away from the city. Enjoy the sunset along the drive as we make our way to the campsite.

Once we reach, check in, settle down, and spend a relaxed evening at the campsite. Get some rest because we have an early start and an adventurous day ahead!

Details

Start the day early as we head out for a sunrise hike to Ramateertha Temple. The quiet morning trail, fresh air, and changing colours of the sky make the hike worth the early wake-up call. Located amidst the natural landscapes around the Kaveri, the temple offers a peaceful setting to spend some time before we continue with the day.

After the hike, we make our way to Dzogchen Monastery, a calm and beautiful space that brings a completely different vibe to the trip. Walk around the monastery, admire its Tibetan Buddhist architecture, and enjoy a few peaceful moments away from the usual weekend crowds.

We’ll then stop for a self-sponsored lunch en route before heading towards our final highlight of the weekend.

Next up is Barachukki Falls, one of the iconic waterfalls of the Shivanasamudra region. Here, the Kaveri River cascades over rocky cliffs, creating an impressive sight, especially when the river is in full flow. Spend some time taking in the views and enjoying the surroundings before we wrap up our exploration.

With a weekend of sunrise trails, temples, peaceful monastery grounds, waterfalls, and plenty of time outdoors behind us, we begin our return journey to Bengaluru.
